Clean-burning hydrogen created from renewable electricity has an ever-increasing and critical role in decarbonizing the energy economy. Absorbing low-cost renewable electricity in its abundance and storing it for release in times of scarcity is a cost-effective, safe method of decreasing use of fossil fuels. Hydrogen is also a feedstock to many important industrial processes, including the production of other climate-neutral fuels.

The Pacific Northwest is home to affordable renewable energy resources, and also to fertile agriculture, commercial transportation, and industries that require backup generators during power outages, such and data centers and hospitals.
